Island Life

Life on Koh Phangan: Training, Paradise and Community

When you're not on the mats at Diamond Muay Thai, you're living on one of the most diverse and beautiful islands in the world. Whether you want a high-energy fight night, a quiet beach to recover on, or a social Sunday with fellow students, Koh Phangan has it all.

Community

Fight Nights and Socialising

Muay Thai is the soul of this island. We regularly head out as a camp to support our teammates and local pros at the Thong Sala and Baan Tai international stadiums. Nothing beats the electric atmosphere of a live fight night: the smell of Thai liniment, the traditional music and the roar of the crowd.

Outside the ring, the Diamond community is active and social. On Sundays, our day off, students often hire scooters and head out together to explore. Whether it's a group sunset at Zen Beach in Sri Thanu or a huge seafood dinner at Pantip Night Market, your training partners quickly become lifelong friends.

Beaches

Beaches for Recovery

With more than 30 beaches, there's a spot for every mood:

  • Nai Wok Beach: right on our doorstep, perfect for a post-training swim or a sunset walk.
  • Secret Beach (Haad Son): a small, stunning cove that's great for snorkelling and relaxing in the shade.
  • Leela Beach: at the southern tip of the island, and one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches for a quiet afternoon.
  • Bottle Beach: for the adventurous. Take a long-tail boat from Chaloklum, or hike through the jungle to reach this secluded spot.
  • Koh Ma: walk across the sandbar at Mae Haad to explore this tiny island and some of the best coral reefs on Koh Phangan.

Culture

Temples and Island Culture

Take a break from training to see the island's spiritual side:

Chinese Temple (Kuan Yin)

High on a hill above Chaloklum Bay, with breathtaking views and beautiful architecture.

Wat Pho Herbal Sauna

A must for fighters. This traditional temple sauna uses local herbs like lemongrass and lime to soothe sore muscles.

Wat Phu Khao Noi

The oldest temple on the island, known for its peaceful forest setting and ancient chedi (stupa).

Adventure

Fitness and Adventure Beyond the Gym

If you still have energy to burn, the island is your playground:

Khao Ra hike

Test your cardio with a trek to the island's highest peak. It's a steep jungle climb, with panoramic views over the Gulf of Thailand at the top.

Phaeng Waterfall

Close to the camp, in the national park, with hiking trails and cool pools to swim in.

Scooter trips

Hiring a scooter is the best way to see the island. Ride the winding roads north to the quiet fishing village of Chaloklum for fresh grilled fish.

Food

Fighter's Fuel: Markets and Healthy Food

Koh Phangan is a paradise for healthy eating. You'll find everything from authentic Thai street food at the Saturday Walking Street market in Thong Sala to high-protein açaí bowls and vegan feasts in Sri Thanu. Whether you need a huge plate of Pad Thai or a recovery smoothie, the island's food scene fits your training perfectly.
